Writing a Peace Essay Topic

Writing a Peace Essay TopicWriting a separate peace essay topic is one of the difficult and challenging sections in college essays. I was once asked to write a peace essay on a topic that had not even come up in class. He started by saying, 'I am going to award an Oscar to someone who has written a 'peace' essay.' When he began to read his list, he had no idea who was on it. The names came out and I had to guess at who it would be. When he finished reading, he said, 'No one! Everyone else did!'After a moment of shock, I realized that he wanted me to write a peace essay that focused on the war, the whole world, or the lost war. I thought about it for a while and then came up with an idea. To help me in my research, I wanted to read a Peace essay.Reading an essay on this topic was very helpful because I was able to use the idea as a model. Instead of focusing on the war, I focused on the peace that prevailed during those years. The idea helped me to see that all of the wars were not abo ut war, but peace. When I went home to take my readings for my entire final, I realized that I had chosen to write about different people, places, and events. When I learned that I could write a peace essay about anything, I was a bit more focused on the essay topic and my study. When I decided to write a separate essay, I knew it would be a challenge, but that challenge made me work harder. Many times in my life, I have learned how to do something that I didn't think I could do. In school, I learned to read. After completingmy reading on the Peace essays, I was able to read what I needed to on my next exam.Sometimes, when I learn about a personal conflict or to just read for inspiration, it helps me to not think about the problem all the time. Reading, writing, and even writing a personal essay are some of the most challenging parts of the high school years.

How I use math in everday life Free Essay Example, 1500 words

I decided to make the cake myself. The recipe was designed for 15 people and ingredients were 156 gram butter, 156 gram self-raising flour and 156 gram caster sugar, 2.5 tablespoons of milk, and 2.5 large eggs. No standard packing in the above measurements (156 gram packing) is available. Nearest available smaller packing is 100 gram. I decided to use 100 grams packing of sugar, butter, and flour. I needed to adjust milk and eggs in the same ratio. Math helped me there. I calculated milk quantity as (100/156) Ãâ€" 2.5 = 1.60 tablespoons of milk and 1.6 of large eggs. Obviously, my prepared cake was sufficient to serve (100/156) Ãâ€" 15 = 10 people. Math helped me a lot in my experiments of preparing some of the delicious dishes in those days and now. Math in My Profession My flair with math helped me in my nursing career too. Often, I do not have the correct dose on hand as prescribed by the doctor; therefore, I have to calculate the dose that I need to give based on what I have on hand. We will write a custom essay sample on How I use math in everday life or any topic specifically for you Only $17.96 $11.86/pageorder now Other day, I was working on the 3 to 11 shift when a heart patient complained of chest pain. I assessed the patient to get proper vital signs knowing the on-call physician would need critical information before instructing me on next steps. I conveyed the doctor about patient’s vital signs and told him that the patient might get cardiac arrest. The doctor ordered Dioxin 0.125mg tablets to be given orally. I knew I only had Dioxin 0.25mg in stock so I had to calculate how much medication I needed to give my patient based on what I had in my med cart. To calculate the dose I used the D/H x Q calculation. This means desired dose divided by dose on hand times the quantity. The equation looks like this 0.125mg/0.25mg x1 = 0.5 or 1/2 tablet should be given to the patient per doctor’s order. As a nurse, we are always challenged to make drug calculations because we often do not have the exact dose that the doctor prescribes. I continued to monitor the patient for approximately 1 hour and she still complained of chest pain. I immediately called the on-call doctor again and informed him of the situation. The patient’s vitals were not too far from baseline so I did not think that we needed to get the patient to a critical care unit. Instead, I suggested to the doctor that we run an intravenous infusion of nitroglycerin. The doctor agreed and ordered 1000ml of nitroglycerin in dextrose 5% in water to infuse over 8 hour. The infusion set I had on hand delivered 10 drops per minute. For my nursing notes, I needed to document how many drops per minute my patient was actually getting by using the 10 drop tubing.

The most serious problem in the world arises of burning fossil fuels. The use of petrol and diesel help to release m ore carbon dioxide into the air. The earth’s upper atmosphere directly caused by burning of fossil fuels, farming, industrial process, and deforestation. The four main contributors of the greenhouse effect are carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane and ozone. Mining for coal and oil releases methane in the atmosphere and the leakage from natural gas fields and landfills adds additional source of methane. Another major factor causing global warming is cutting down more and more trees. When carbon dioxide is stored and oxygen is released by the green plants, it causes a decreased to increased concentration of carbon dioxide that leads to increased greenhouse effect. Humans are directly responsible for global warming. Our lives involve the emission of theses dangerous greenhouses (Bushnell 25). Carbon dioxide has increased to 381 parts per million in the last century. Heavy usages of Coal, petroleum, and natural gas release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Every day we use these fossil fuels to meet our power, heating and transportation needs. Vehicles account for about 20% of the world’s carbon dioxide emissions. Araby Essay Example For Students

Araby Essay The story Araby, by James Joyce, shows how people often expect more than that which ordinary reality can provide and consequently feel disappointed when they do not receive what they expect. Another fascinating piece of literature is the poetry collection The Black Riders and Other Lines by Stephen Crane. What, if anything, does one have to do with the other? This paper will compare one of Cranes poems to Joyces story. Araby tells the story of a young boys disillusionment with life as he experiences his first adult feelings of love for a girl, but is then denied expression of his feelings for her by the adult world. The key theme is frustration, as the boy deals with the limits forced on him by his situation. He has a succession of romantic ideas about a girl and an event to which he attributes magnificent qualities, a common bazaar called Araby, that he will attend on her behalf. On the night when he waits for his uncle to return home so that he can go to the bazaar, the reader witnesses the boys frustration increasing and building. By the time he finally gets to go to the bazaar, it is more or less over. His fantasies about the bazaar and about buying a special gift for the girl of his dreams are revealed as being ridiculous. The boys anticipation of the event, and of pleasing the object of his affections with a gift from the event, provided him with nice fantasies. However, reality turns out to be much harsher than fantasy. Cranes poems often carry the themes of love and human nature just as Joyces story, Araby, does. If one looks at poem III of The Black Riders and Other Lines, one can see a creature literally eating his heart out, presumably over a lost love. One can easily draw a parallel between this poem and Araby, as the boy in Joyces story ends up eating his heart out as well over the lost chance to impress the girl of his dreams. Joyce created much darkness in the setting of Araby. This darkness represents how the boy feels about his own life. Even as he plays outside with his friends, the boy remarks, When we met in the street the houses had grown somber. The space of sky above us was the colour of ever-changing violet and towards it the lamps of the street lifted their feeble lanterns. In this quote, even the lanterns cant add lightness to the boys situation. The boy is young and naive and he feels that he leads a dull and boring life. Joyce uses darkness to make the boys reality more believable through very vivid, precise descriptions. By contrast, when the boy thinks of or talks to the girl, the object of his affections, Joyce uses light to create a fairy tale world of dreams and illusions. When Joyce describes the boy waiting outside to watch the girl, he writes, She was waiting for us, her figure defined by the light from the half-opened door. Joyce later writes of the time when the boy is speaking to the girl, The light from the lamp opposite our door caught the white curve of her neck, lit up her hair that rested there and, falling, lit up the hand upon the railing. Joyce refers to bright light when discussing the girl in order to give her a heavenly presence, to make her seem even more dream-like, as she appears to be to the boy. Cranes poetry is much more mysterious than Joyces stories, but he uses literary devices to create setting as well. His setting is more desolate the desert. When the narrator says, I saw a creature naked, bestial, it makes the reader think that the narrator and this creature are the only two beings in the desert. Although Cranes poem is harder to pin down, the reader can surmise that the creature is eating his heart because it is bitter, and because it is my heart, in response to a lost love. Cranes poem, like Joyces story, is infused with realism, which sets it apart from other poetry of the time. Joyces main character falls back to earth and
